Board Developed Course
1 UNIT
Category A

What will I be doing in this course?

The English Extension course is designed for students who undertake Advanced English and who have an interest in literature and a desire to pursue an additional unit in their study of English. Through engaging with increasingly complex concepts through a broad range of literature, from a range of contexts, they refine their understanding and appreciation of the cultural roles and the significance of texts.

Students have the opportunity to pursue areas of interest with increased independence and to theorise about the processes of responding to and composing text. They explore a range of conceptual frameworks for the reading and composition of texts and examine a range of reading practices to develop awareness of the assumptions that guide interpretation and evaluation. They engage with complex texts that intellectually challenge them to think creatively and critically about the way that literature shapes and reflects the global world.

How will this course help me in the future?
