How will I be assessed?

VET courses involve continuous and ongoing assessment. Students need to be able to show competence in a variety of ways such as performance, oral communication, production of documents, tests etc. Some competencies are assessed in the workplace. Students will be progressively assessed as ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’ in individual units.

External assessment
The Higher School Certificate examination for Primary Industries is optional for non-ATAR students who do not have to sit the HSC. For those students sitting the HSC, it will involve a written examination consisting of multiple-choice items, short answers and extended response items. HSC exam covers work done in Year 11 and Year 12.

How will this course help me in the future?

VET courses provide students with the dual credentials and advanced standing at TAFE. Successful students will receive a Certificate III, II or Statement of Attainment in Primary Industries. If electing to sit a HSC exam, a mark will contribute towards their ATAR (provided they have the right subject combination). Students may elect to not sit the HSC and will still receive a Certificate I, II, III or Statement of Attainment.
